Margate eye play-off place

MARGATE travel to bottom-of-the table and managerless side St Albans City looking to extend their winning streak to four games, writes Stephen McCartney.

And the winning run has coincided with the news the club will be returning home to Hartsdown Park – and manager Chris Kinnear hasn’t rule out a play-off place at the end of the season.

The ‘Gate, sitting in 13^th place in the Nationwide South table, should return from Hertfordshire with three points to continue their rich vein of form, as St Albans are managerless following the shock resignation of Stuart Cash after only one week at the helm in the last week.

Cash cited family and a promotion at work as the primary reasons for his quick departure.

He said: “I’d like to wish everyone at the club all the very best and this is a purely personal decision.

“I’m still in shock, but my new responsibilities mean I would be unable to give the position 100 per cent, which would not be fair to anybody.”

Former Woking and Yeovil Town boss Colin Lippiatt, brought in by Cash as his assistant, will take charge of the team against Margate and is likely to be installed as the permanent manager once chairman John Gibson returns from business abroad.

Meanwhile, with the 30 day countdown well under way to supply Thanet District Council with Margate’s detailed planning and business case/finance model, their JV Partners and Architects are in town this week to attend a number of meetings arranged with Planners, Highway Dept, Archaeological Trust and Legal Team.

Margate will be arranging a meeting for their local residents on Tuesday 30^th November, which their Architects will attend with details of the project and will also to take on board any feedback prior to the formal submission of detailed planning.

Members of the Independent Supporters Association have agreed to deliver a leaflet to all residents within the area and it is proposed the meeting commences at 19:30.

However, only local residents in possession of a leaflet will be admitted to this meeting.

It is expected that the information designed initially for local residents will be left with the club for supporters to come and view.

The club’s Development Team is on target to meet the council’s deadline, which expires on 9^th December 2004.  The Team has received full co-operation from the Council’s Officers for which the club are most grateful.

The Nationwide South club will issue a statement after the residents meeting on the 30^th of this month.
