Darts aiming for fifth place

Victory at Wivenhoe Town on Tuesday night will send Dartford into fifth place in the Southern League Division One East table ahead of their FA Trophy third qualifying round showdown against AFC Wimbledon at Stonebridge Road on Saturday, writes Stephen McCartney.

Eddie McClements' goal was enough to beat Great Wakering Rovers on Saturday, in what was a poor game in Essex.

But Burman was delighted to receive a telephone call to receive the news that his side had  climbed into eighth place in the table, after missing the game.

"We all new before the game that Great Wakering Rovers would be a tough nut to crack and maybe things would not be too pretty," Burman told www.dartfordfc.co.uk

"From speaking to Steve (Robinson) and Paul (Sawyer) after the match, football wise the performance was not the best and at times we may have had some luck defending our goal.

"It seems that some of our play was a bit sloppy in certain areas of the pitch and after the game some of our players felt they could have done better."

Burman admitted tomorrow's game at Broad Lane is tough, but hopes their travelling fans will inspire his side to victory and climb up to fifth place in the table ahead of their FA Trophy tie on Saturday against Dave Anderson's side, that needed a replay to knock Ramsgate out in the last round.

"We face another team below us in the league, again a very tough away game," admitted Burman.

"Wivenhoe have been undefeated in their last nine games, after a very poor start to the season by their standards.

"I know this is a very long trip to make for a midweek fixture, but if any of our supporters can make the trip it would be appreciated by myself and the team."
