report by Jill Lawson Ramsgate FC
Erith
started the stronger team in this league fixture where a win would put them
above the Rams in the table.
They had the ball in the net after 12 minutes but the effort was
disallowed for off side.
Just two minutes later their early dominance was rewarded with a goal.
Ramsgate
were not deterred by this early set back and on 21 minutes Niall McCourt squared
the ball to Adam Newbury for his equaliser.
5 minutes later Erith once again took the lead after Ramsgate failed to
clear the ball in the box.
Erith could have increased their lead 2 minutes later but were denied by
a superb one handed save from Darren Goldsack.
Erith were left to rue their missed chances as Saul Anderton buried an
Adam Newbury corner on 31 minutes and James Winchcombe put the Rams ahead for
the first time just 3 minutes before the end of the first half.
Ramsgate
hit a purple patch on the restart putting the game completely beyond the reach
of Erith with
a goal from Niall McCourt in the opening minutes. Just one minute later
Johnny Hindley, ably assisted by substitute Jason McCree, scored from a tight
angle to make it 5 - 2.
Jez Ujkej made it 6 for the Rams with his first goal for the team in the
64th minute.
A battling Erith side never gave up and were rewarded with a consolation
goal 2 minutes from full time but this did not detract from what was a polished
Ramsgate performance.
