Lovell begins search to replace Coyle
SITTINGBOURNE manager Steve Lovell begins the search to find a
replacement for skipper Jamie Coyle, who has announced he has left Bourne Park
due to work commitments, writes Stephen McCartney.
Lovell told www.kentishfootball.co.uk
this evening: "Jamie rang me yesterday to say because of work commitments
up in South East London, he would rather find a club nearer to where he will be
spending his time."
Lovell, however, is confident he can find a replacement for the utility
player, who scored two goals last season.
"Jamie was captain but one door shuts another opens," he
said. "Jamie was a good player, a good lad but life goes on and we'll
find someone to replace him."
But the Welshman did admit it's a bit quiet in the transfer market at
present.
"Like all non-league and league clubs it's very quiet. It's not until
when pre-season starts when things begin to happen," he said.
"Players will be on trial so it's a matter of giving players we've got in
the squad a chance and seeing where our strengths and weaknesses are."
Coyle, who Lovell described his best position was right-back or centre half,
added: "With regret, I have decided to leave Sittingbourne FC.
"Whilst I have really enjoyed my time with the club, it has become
increasingly difficult to commit myself to the club due to new work commitments,
studying and travelling from London.
"I now feel that the time is right to move on and would like to take this
opportunity to thank the club, committee, supporters, players and staff, as well
as Andy and Tania Spice for all the hard work that, I have witnessed over the
last two seasons and wish everybody associated with the club the very best for
the future."
