Dolby upset as six-match unbeaten run ends at Folkestone

TONBRIDGE ANGELS manager Tony Dolby admitted he was upset as his side's six-game unbeaten run came to an end with a 2-0 defeat at Kent rivals Folkestone Invicta on Tuesday, writes Stephen McCartney.

Two goals, either side of half time, in a sixteen minute spell, from Simon Glover and Adam Flanaghan were enough to beat the Angels, who failed to impress at Cheriton Road.

Speaking on the club's website, Dolby said: "Although we were short of a few first teamers, I felt we should have got something from the game at Folkestone.

"Therefore, not only was I upset with the result but also the performance as I felt we didn't apply ourselves to our standards that I expect.

"We didn't create enough chances, didn't get our wing-backs out enough and this is essential playing the system we do."

However, as promised, Dolby has made another addition to his squad, signing Danny Lye, and he will make his debut for Saturday's Ryman League Premier Division trip to Staines Town.

Dolby added: "After the disappointment of Tuesday evening, we have good news in that I have signed Danny Lye, who will add steel to our side.

"Although Danny can play football we are looking for him to win battles where recently this has not been happening.

"Obviously we do require players in other areas of the pitch and we see Danny as the first step in this direction."

Looking ahead to the trip to Wheatsheaf Park, with an impressive main stand and clubhouse, although the rest of the ground lacks improvement, Dolby said: "Staines is going to be a very difficult match as they are on a very good run, which has taken them to second in the table, and they have also scored the most goals in the league.

"However, it is essential that we make a good start and maintain it for 90 minutes, if we are to come away with any points."

Andy Larkin returns to the squad after missing the midweek trip to Folkestone.  However, Dolby admitted Brendon Cass will not be fit and there are further doubts over Steve Searle and Tim Hambley.
