Humphrey makes swift return

NICK HUMPHREY, who was released by Dover Athletic earlier in the week, has re-joined their Ryman Premier Division rivals Tonbridge Angels, writes Stephen McCartney.

The defender left Longmead Stadium at the start of the 2002-03 season to join Dover, and has just been shown the door by new Whites manager Steve Browne, but will feature in the Angels away game at Heybridge Swifts tomorrow.

Humphrey, however, will make a quick return to the Hoverspeed Stadium, as the Angels travel to Dover next Saturday in a very important league fixture for both clubs.

Meanwhile, there was enormous disappointment for Angels manager Tony Dolby as Ryman League Division One side Burgess Hill Town rejected their bid for striker Steve Harper.

Dolby said: "I am very disappointed not to have signed Steve Harper as the club made a very fair bid.

"We will now look elsewhere, but Harper would have been perfect for us."

It is understood that the offer fell short by £2,250, which the club felt was unrealistic.
