Kent County League win trophy five years running
The British Energy Kent County League won The Tom Stabler Trophy
for the fifth year in succession with a 3-0 victory over the Matthew Clark
Sussex County League at Eastbourne Town on Wednesday, writes Stephen McCartney.
Manager Ian Hamer saw his side, weakened by injuries and work commitments, take
a 50th minute lead when a left wing cross was cleverly converted by Old Roan's
Dave Greenslade.
Greenway's Sam Jeffrey made a fantastic goal-line clearance to deny the home
side an equaliser and the ball was played immediately to the other end for
Greenslade to net his second of the evening.
With two minutes remaining, the home side's defence was again brought into
action, blocking a shot which rebounded to Jeffrey who found the net on his
second attempt, as Old Roan's Sean O'Keefe was presented with the trophy at the
end of the game.
