Sugrue steps down after 17 dedicated years

KENT football's longest serving manager, Kevin Sugrue, has decided to step down at Kent League side Beckenham Town after 17 years at the helm of the Eden Park Avenue club, writes Stephen McCartney.

A press release issued by the club stated: "The club owes Kevin a huge debt of gratitude, no-one could have equalled his achievements with the limited resources he had available during his time as manager.

"Kevin has written his own chapter in the history of Beckenham Town Football Club and his term of 17 years in charge is never likely to be equalled.

"The whole club joins in thanking Kevin for the dedication he has shown."

However, the statement made no reference as to when a likely successor would be appointed.

The club will shortly be announcing their pre-season matches.

Currently a second pitch is being laid at Eden Park Avenue for training purposes and the club will be launching a new website at the start of the new season.
