On a very hot mid-July afternoon, Bromley's pre-season kicked off at the Erith Sports Stadium in front of about 100 people, and this was more of a chance for fans to catch up after a summer away and try and work out who the new faces were rather than a footballing spectacle, writes Colin Head.

Bromley, fielding a lot of players from last season's play-off winning side, started brightly and put the home defence under pressure.

The Dockers held out though and were very solid throughout the game.

Erith hit the post on their first real attack, while Bromley had a lot of nice approach play without the killer ball or final touch.

Bromley midfielder Gavin McGowan was on the end of a poor tackle and the former Arsenal star had to go off with an injured ankle.

To compound things Erith then broke and took the lead on 30 minutes when Wayne Grizzle showed great composure in the box to finish well.

After a much needed water break, Erith's young and lively side continued to battle hard but Bromley couldn't find a way through before half time.

The second half saw Bromley continue to press and Adolph Amoako put two headers just wide after good crosses by Gary Drewett and Colin Luckett.

Kevin George hit the bar from the edge of the box and at the other end, Erith's strikers were denied three times in quick succession by the seventeen-year-old goalkeeper who has just been released by Gillingham, Darren Ibrahim.

Finally on 80 minutes Fraser Logan headed home a great ball from Drewett to equaise for the Ravens.

Erith's goalkeeper made a great late stop from Logan and the Scotsman put another effort over the bar.

Both Steve Potterill and Drewett had goals disallowed for clear handballs.

It was good to see Bromley's club captain, Mark Willy back in action after nearly a year out due to a broken leg, but worryingly he took a heavy knock late on.
