Barlow appointed number two at Lordswood

PAUL PIGGOTT, manager of Go Travel Kent League Premier Division outfit Lordswood, has appointed Wayne Barlow as his new assistant, following the departure of Graham Mitchell through work commitments, writes Stephen McCartney.

Thirty-three-year-old Piggott, a plumber from Rainham in Kent, has quickly made a replacement in Barlow.

Piggott said: “I did have Graham Mitchell, who left through work commitments, so I was looking for someone and first and foremost Wayne Barlow is a good friend of mine, and secondly he has played a decent standard of football.

“He was the manager of Sheppey United when they played in the Kent League a few years back and he knows the local scene very well.”

However, Lordswood have lost Shawn Mitchell to Kent League rivals Herne Bay, who appointed Jason Lillis as manager in the close season.

Piggott added: “Herne Bay are a bigger club than Lordswood – Shawn has moved on as he has a chance of maybe winning something.”

Piggott, however, admitted he is looking forward to the start of the new season, which gets underway on Saturday 14th August.

He added: “I felt we were becoming a better side towards the end of last season. We have lost one player but if we can keep hold of the rest and add one or two signings we can hope to carry on where we left off last season.
