Lordswood suffer from more bad luck

Sevenoaks Town got off to a flying start at Greatness Park on Tuesday, taking a sixth minute lead when top scorer Andy Constable latched onto Richard Radbourne's tackle to slot past visiting goalkeeper Scott Muttock from 12-yards.

Four minutes later, Constable almost added another when he turned on a shot, inside the box, only to see Muttock push it around the post.

Lordswood, however, got back into the game, and against the run of play, Charlie Almond - making his first start at first team level - picked up the ball 25-yards out, his shot took a deflection beating goalkeeper Darren Smart.

With five minutes remaining, good interplay from Radbourne and Grant Gallagher carved a chance for Arnold, but his shot flashed narrowly wide.

Bottom-of-the-table Lordswood, however, carried on where they left off after the interval, and on the hour Radbourne was unlucky not to score when his 25-yard free kick was pushed around the post by Smart - who declined a move to Kent League rivals Thamesmead Town earlier in the season.

Sevenoaks squandered two chances in a minute to take the lead when Wayne Balmer cut inside but his shot deflected past the post for a corner.

From the resulting flag kick, Lords' defender Gary Peck miss-kicked his clearance, finding former Tonbridge youngster Richard Bryce, whose 12-yard shot blazed over the bar.

Lordswood, however, were in control of the game, but their luck once again ran out.

The home side scored what turned out to be the winner, with only 5 minutes remaining.

Sevenoaks played the ball out wide for Chris Ralph to retrieve and after cutting inside two defenders, running into the box, he was brought down by Muttock.

Prolific striker Constable stepped up, placed the penalty into the bottom left corner.

Lordswood stay rooted to the bottom of the table whilst Sevenoaks patchy form continues.
