Rams are having a Ball
JIM WARD, the manager of newly promoted Ramsgate, has strengthened
his squad with the signings of Michael Yianni and Steffan Ball, writes Stephen
McCartney.
Ward knows what Yianni can do having managed the midfielder during his reign at
Maidstone United and striker Ball has a proven goalscoring record at Ryman
League Division One level following spells with Horsham, Bromley and Dulwich
Hamlet.
"Michael was the first person I wanted to bring to Ramsgate as soon as we
got promoted," Ward said of the 21-year-old midfielder signed from Hythe
Town.
And Ball scored for Greenwich Borough against the Rams at Southwood Stadium at
the tail end of the season, making a good impression.
Speaking about the tall 25-year-old, Ward said: "He's experienced, he's
scored a lot of goals at this level and he's a big centre forward.
"He knows how to hold the ball up and is generally a good forward to have
at this level."
Ward revealed earlier in the week he isn't releasing any of his Kent League
double winning squad but will be looking to add another two or three players as
they prepare for Ryman League Division One football in August.
