Ward delighted with Munday capture |
Ramsgate
manager Jim Ward has made his biggest close season signing, bringing Mark
Munday back to Southwood Stadium, writes Stephen McCartney. The 34-year-old Thanet based defender originally joined the Rams from Ashford Town earlier in his career, and then went on to play for Herne Bay, Gravesend & Northfleet, Margate, Dover Athletic and played for Folkestone Invicta last season. Ward is delighted with his fifth close season signing, as the club prepare for its first season in the Ryman League. They start their division one campaign with a trip to Burgess Hill Town on Saturday 20th August, before entertaining Tooting & Mitcham United at Southwood Stadium three days later. "It's a massive signing for us," admitted Ward. "I don't want to put our other signings down, but Mark is the biggest we've made. "He's a friend of mine and when the opportunity to sign him came up, we grabbed it with both hands. "He is a talisman, we've been looking for that experience in midfield and he'll get us six to 12 goals from there." The Rams open their pre-season programme with a home game against Kentish Observer League side, Erith & Belvedere on Saturday (3pm).
