Ten-man Rams beat local rivals
Ramsgate 2 Betteshanger 1
MUSH Kent Youth League
Under 16s League
Sunday 26th October 2003
Match report by Bob Haynes, Ramsgate FC
Ramsgate Under 16s, despite being decimated by injuries and only
being able to field 10 players, still managed a courageous win over Betteshanger
at Southwood on Sunday afternoon.
The match was barely 2 minutes old when former Rams striker Craig Sullivan
deftly back-heeled the visitors into the lead. Ramsgate levelled before
half-time after concerted pressure with a Neil Hoggart header at the back post
from a Liam Skinner corner.
To offset their deficiency, the Rams focused on their passing game with the
midfield quartet of Hasler, Skinner, Barber and Ryan putting together some fine
attacking moves. Their tenacity was rewarded when Neil Hoggart darted onto a
John Ryan flick and coolly slotted the ball home some 10 minutes from time.
Special mention must go to Luke May, Luke Hasler and particularly Nathan
Jeffreys, who took the field carrying injuries and who all bravely made it to
the end of the game.
The Under 16s are away to Kennington in the Kent Youth League next Sunday (2nd
November), whilst the Under 18s are at home to Milton Athletic, 11.00 o'clock
kickoff).
