No goals in Ramsgate's
garden
Herne Bay made the short trip to Thanet on Tuesday night hoping
to continue where they left-off on Saturday but, alas, it wasn’t to be.
This game was very much “after the Lord Mayor’s Show” as it were. This
match was very much a stale-mate with both defences being thoroughly tested.
For most of the first half
the Bay were penned-in their own half with occasional break-outs by Danny
Kedwell and Ronan O’Connor who tested Lee Piltcher in the Ramsgate goal.
With the Bay under pressure,
Stephen Lloyd, Wes Hammond and Jack Delo were solid at the back and had to be at
their best to thwart Mo Tagaloo, Warren Schwalz and former Bay player, Shane
Suter on several occasions.
As the second half progressed, the Bay came more into the match with Kedwell
constantly becoming a menace to the Thanet side’s defence.
This was a severe test for
the Bay’s young defence and they came through it with flying colours.
For Herne Bay, Stephen Lloyd was a colossus at the back but the man of the match
was Danny Kedwell who never stopped running all night.
After the match, manager
Jason Lillis was very upbeat and very happy with a point as not many teams will
go to Jimmy Ward’s own back garden and come away with a result.
