Tunbridge Wells want to finish season on a high

KEVIN METCALFE, manager of Go Travel Kent League Premier Division side Tunbridge Wells, wants to finish the season with a victory for the people who run the club, writes Stephen McCartney.

Metcalfe's men celebrated a 1-0 victory, only their seventh win of the season, at local rivals, Sevenoaks Town on Easter Monday.

Skipper Lee Skinner's goal after seventeen minutes gave the Culverden Stadium outfit all three points and the local bragging rights, although only 58 people attended the fixture at Greatness Park.

However, Sevenoaks are the opponents for Tunbridge Wells' final game of the season, at Culverden Stadium, in Culverden Down on Saturday 24th April, and Metcalfe wants to finish the season on a high note.

Metcalfe said: "I was pleased with the performance at Sevenoaks.  I brought in one under eighteen player and changed the side around a little bit and went in and done a good job.  I am very pleased collecting the three points."

Looking ahead to the return fixture, the manager, added: "I think they will be looking for revenge.  However, I will look at a couple of the under eighteen players for our last game of the season.  Although we aren't setting the league table alight, I would like to win, but it's a case of looking at some more players."

Metcalfe praised Skinner for his contribution at Greatness Park.  He added: "Lee has had a good season.  We changed where he played and he was the difference.  With striker Benji Agana suspended, Lee played up front, and scored from a header from a well worked free kick taken by Nathan Simms," revealed the boss.

One thing for the agenda for the manager and his hardworking colleagues at the Culverden Stadium is to entice more people through the turnstiles for their last game and for next season, which hopefully, will bring more success to the club.

He admitted: "I am looking forward to next season,  I always knew when I took the job earlier in the season it would be hard.  Since Christmas, however, results have been better and with two or three more additions to the squad in the summer, we should have a fairly promising season."

He continued: "As I said in my programme notes against Deal Town, our home form hasn't been good and we have won more points on our travels.

"I would like more support for our last home game for the people who run the club and the team to turn it on for them on the pitch!"
