Coach Martin Telford, who joined the Culverden Stadium outfit in the close season from Ashford Town, has installed confidence and belief in the players, but Metcalf played down the thought of success returning to the club.

"One game at a time!" he insisted

"Next week we have a hard job in the FA Cup.  I know there have been people from AFC Totton watching us today, so they will go back, and to be honest, they've got a lot of hard work to do.

"It's a long, long season, we are six games unbeaten, so who knows!"

Tunbridge Wells' first chance against Camberley came within 115 seconds of the start but Like Williams', who had made a surging run, scuffed his shot narrowly wide of the left post from 28-yards.

The Ryman Leaguers, however, opened the scoring in the 11th minute when skipper Paul Dadson's low shot crept inside the foot of the left post after Robbie Burns', on the right hand side of the penalty area, thoughtfully headed the ball back across the face of the penalty area.

Dadson almost doubled the scoring for Ken Ballard's side but his header dropped agonisingly over the bar before the Kent League side equalised in the 18th minute.

A high cross from the right appeared to be a comfortable, bread and butter collection for visiting goalkeeper Stuart Millard, but somehow he dropped the ball above his head.  Steve Smith excepted the gift and despatched the shot into the bottom left hand corner of the net.

Patient play from the Wells almost doubled their tally in the 23rd minute but Bradley Mortimer dragged his shot inches wide of the foot of the far post.

The Wells deservedly took the lead in the 32nd minute, when close, crisp passing, in and around the penalty area saw Smith play the ball outside to Mortimer, whose shot found the far corner of the net.

Four minutes later, the Kent side carved open another goalscoring chance when Martin Anderson - a recent signing from Ryman League side Ashford Town - delivered a deep cross to the far post, but unmarked Mortimer headed the good chance wide.

Just before the break, Camberley's Jamie Shannon fired a 25-yard shot high and wide of the target and Wells' goalkeeper Matt Bromby was twice called into action, and as always, was equal to the challenge.

A bright start to the second half by the visitors saw Grant Stevens screw his shot high and wide of the right post after only 41 seconds, but then Tunbridge Wells extinguished any hopes of a Camberley fight-back.

Daniel Barham should have killed the game off but his shot lacked conviction and Millard made a comfortable save.

Wells, did, however, wrap up the game with the killer third and deserved goal on 59 minutes.  Camberley left-back Gary Pierce's intended ball upfield was charged down by Barrington Beaney some 40 yards from goal.

He played the ball inside to Smith who returned the ball to Beaney and his cross picked out an unmarked Barham and his 12-yard header found the top right hand corner of the net to send Camberley crashing out of the FA Vase.

Beaney's shot then clipped the crossbar and Wells went close again.  Smith was inside the penalty area with his back to goal, and he laid the ball back to Williams, who had made a run from midfield, and his well struck low 25-yard drive, was parried by Millard.

Bromby was tested with a downward header from Dadson with ten minutes remaining and Williams spurned two chances to add to the Wells' scoreline inside stoppage time.

His first shot, from 22 yards, stung the fingers of Millard, but he managed to save the shot at the second attempt, but he should have done better with his next effort.

With only the goalkeeper to beat, inside the penalty area, he tried to sneak the ball inside the post, but the goalkeeper managed to get his body behind the shot and made a fine save.

Metcalf added: "I thought our football was outstanding today and I believe there is more in the locker.

"We are not a hump it and hoof the ball side, we work the ball from the defence and scored three good goals.

"Martin (Telford) is teaching the players not to play 60-yard balls from defence.  We play football, work the ball from the back and it's paying off.

"They do certain things in training and a lot of it is paying off at the moment."
