Gladwish withdrawals football funding

Whitstable Town are delighted to announce their new sponsor for the remainder of the season are local company D&J Tyres after GLSfootball.com ceased to be their sponsor "with immediate effect," writes Stephen McCartney.

"It is great news that Joe Brownett and his family through their company D&J Tyes are renewing their support of Whitstable Town," announced chairman Tony Rouse on www.whitstabletownfc.co.uk

"We have been very lucky to have their support over the many years the family have been associated with the club and Joe has agreed to carry on helping the club after the sudden departure of Victor Gladwish's company, who are to cease their funding of football at any level."

This came about after what Mr Gladwish said was: "The unacceptable way I was treated by a club last weekend."

His decision leaves many other football clubs without a sponsor and is in no way a reflection on the relationship between Gladwish and Whitstable Town, which has always been cordial and business like.

Indeed, Victor's brother Paul, who is a valued member of the committee, stays at the Kentish Observer League club.

Rouse, whose club welcome Lordswood in the Kentish Observer League Cup on Tuesday night, added: "I was prepared to step down as chairman as my appointment was with the backing of Gladwish and his sponsorship, but after speaking to Joe (Brownett) he asked that I stay as chairman and together we continue the good working relationship we have always enjoyed to move the club forward.

"I am delighted that little will change at the club.  Joe has agreed to become vice-chairman and Paul has agreed to step down at the next committee meeting."
