Constable seeks home comforts after leaving Whitstable

CITING the move to his new home in Sevenoaks and his new family as the main reason for leaving Go Travel Kent League outfit Whitstable Town, last season's Golden Boot winner Andy Constable has decided he cannot give manager Matt Toms the commitment to the club for next season, writes Tony Rouse.

The former Bromley striker said: "I have really enjoyed my time at Whitstable but unfortunately I have made the decision to leave the club and try and play for somebody more local.

"Since the birth of my son I have realised that I would not be able to give the commitment the club requires.  I hope that the club go on to achieve all the things that Matt (Toms) and the rest of the club are working for."

He added: "In fairness to the club and to myself and family, I think it was the gentlemanly way to move forward.

"I am sure I will be back at the Belmont sometime in the future and I will look forward to returning to an excellent club.  It seems quite nice that I managed to finish top scorer last season and that is something I am proud to have done.  My only down point is that I never managed to win anything with Whitstable, but I'm sure the supporters won't have to wait too much longer before there will be some silverware back in the cabinet." he insisted.
