Bromley dealt Okafor blow

Bromley have been dealt a major blow ahead of their Ryman Premier League return, writes Stephen McCartney.

Defender Sam Okafor, who signed for the Hayes Lane club just before the start of last season from Hampton & Richmond Borough, has been promoted at work and looks likely to miss the league campaign.

A statement issued by a spokesperson at the club said: "Sam Okafor has been promoted at work and having thought long and hard about things does not believe at the moment that he will have the time to play football this season.

"It may be that as he settles into his new role things will change."

However, the future of much-travelled striker Mark Tompkins, who rejoined the club from Whyteleafe just before the transfer deadline, remains unclear.

"I'm not entirely sure what the situation with Mark Tompkins is".

Bromley, who drew 1-1 at Erith Town last weekend, travel to Ramsgate on Saturday.

The Rams have a 100% record in pre-season matches so far this season, having beaten Erith & Belvedere (2-0) and Whitstable Town 3-0 in the past week.
