The Football Association regrettably forced to postpone Non-League Finals Day for a second time

The Football Association have been forced to postpone Non-League Finals Day, which was scheduled for Sunday 27 September 2020.

Northern League rivals Consett and Hebburn Town were due to contest The FA Vase Final, while Concord Rangers will play either Harrogate Town or Notts County in The FA Trophy showpiece.

The two Finals were due to be a part of a fans’ pilot but the UK Government – guilty of making numerous U-turns during this coronavirus health pandemic – have told The Football Association that spectators are not allowed at such football matches for the time being.

Only clubs from Step Three to Step Seven in the National League System are allowed to have fans attending fixtures, subject to restrictions depending on what level the home club plays at.

For example, 600 fans can attend an Isthmian League Premier Division fixture, 400 in the level below and 300 in Steps Five and Six.

A statement from The Football Association said: “Following the released Government’s updated Covid-19 guidelines for sports events, we have regrettably decided to postpone Non-League Finals Day, which was due to take place on Sunday 27 September 2020.

“The event, which comprises the finals of The FA Trophy and The FA Vase, was originally due to be held at Wembley Stadium in May but was delayed due to the pandemic before a new date was announced last month when it was confirmed as a pilot event by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport.

“We understand how important it is for the participating clubs’ fans to be able to attend and therefore will re-arrange at a date to be confirmed.

“We will continue to work closely with the relevant authorities on how we can bring spectators back in a safe and secure manner and further information will be confirmed in due course.”
