Abbott: If we don't make the play-off's we've got ourselves to blame
Friday 09th April 2010
SITTINGBOURNE go into arguably the most important week of their season, with a trip down the M20 to face an Ashford Town side reeling from a six nil home hammering by Championship chasing Croydon Athletic, themselves reeling from an unsuccessful Easter, writes Mike Green.
Abbott will at least know what to expect from Steve Lovell’s side tomorrow. “They’re fighting for their lives,” Abbott admitted to www.kentishfootball.co.uk, “and there’s a thing about us at the moment as we’re losing to everyone at the bottom – Eastbourne, Whitstable and now we’ve got Ashford on Saturday and then Walton Casuals the following week so we really got to pull ourselves together and we have to get three points at Homelands.
“I said before Tuesday that I don’t like playing teams at the bottom and I just don’t know what it is. We can’t come away from Homelands with less than three points as we face Chipstead and Godalming at Bourne Park next week – the games just keep coming, we just like making it hard work for ourselves.
“For us to get into the play-off’s now is going to be hard, but we’ll fight till the end, but if we don’t make it we’ll only have ourselves to blame!”
