AFC Croydon Athletic boss Kevin Rayner: We have an important batch of league games coming up and will need to continue our good league form if we want to keep in the thick of things
AFC CROYDON ATHLETIC manager Kevin Rayner says he cannot wait to return to league action tomorrow.
The Rams have suffered three cup defeats in their last three games and travel to newly-promoted side Bearsted in the league tomorrow.
Rayner’s side have lost top spot to Ashford United in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table, with both clubs on 28 points from 12 league outings.
AFC Croydon Athletic travel to last season’s Kent Invicta League champions tomorrow, with Kevin Stevens side sitting in the bottom two, having collected two wins and three draws from 13 league outings.
“We’re looking forward to getting back to league action on Saturday,” said Rayner.
“Our last three cup games saw us use the opportunity to rest several players in each game and use the squad players.
“In truth the games have not been as competitive and although I have no qualms at losing the last three games, in our last game the final 20 minutes was poor even though we had six regulars missing.”
Rayner will be keen to get his side back on track in the heart of the Kent countryside.
He said: “We know Bearsted will be a tough game and their position in the table is false as they have played most of the top sides.
“We have pretty much a full-squad to choose form and will need to be at our very best to get something from the game.
“We have an important batch of league games coming up and will need to continue our good league form if we want to keep in the thick of things.”
