We have had a poor October and I wasn’t too worried with the Cup defeats but the league games have hurt us and our targets that we have set, admits AFC Croydon Athletic boss Kevin Rayner

AFC CROYDON ATHLETIC manager Kevin Rayner demands a win over Erith Town tomorrow to end a run of five straight defeats.

The Rams have slipped down to tenth-place in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table, with 20 points on the board from their 13 league outings.

Fifteenth-placed Erith Town visit Mayfield Road tomorrow and Rayner expects a tough game against Adam Woodward’s side.

“On Saturday we know we have another tough fixture against an Erith Town side that are in good form and it’s game that we need to get back to where we were a month ago,” said Rayner.

“We have had a poor October and to be fair I wasn’t too worried with the Cup defeats but the league games have hurt us and our targets that we have set.

“We have had to regularly shuffle the side due to suspensions and injury and our performances have not been good enough.”

Reflecting on his side’s 1-0 defeat at Tunbridge Wells last weekend, Rayner said: “Our last game against Tunbridge Wells was a tight affair but we couldn’t convert chances and didn’t quite do enough to get anything from the game.

“I would expect us to improve drastically again through November with every player available again and look to push on to keep at the right end of the table.”
