Kevin Rayner retains managers job and joins AFC Croydon Athletic board as Barry Boxall comes in as head coach
AFC CROYDON Athletic manager Kevin Rayner has appointed Barry Boxall as his new assistant manager and head coach.
Boxall, an UEFA A Licenced qualified coach, has plenty of coaching experience having spent 15 years working at Academies for Arsenal, Fulham and Southampton and more recently he was coaching with Charlton Athletic’s foundation phase.
“In Barry Boxall we have added real quality to the management team ahead of the new season,” Rayner told the club website.
“We are very keen to ensure that we hit the ground running in the new season.”
The Rams were in the bottom three in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division at the time of the coronavirus health pandemic brought the season to a halt in March.
The Thornton Heath based club has also announced that Rayner will also join the board at Mayfield Stadium.
“He has been invited to join the board although he will continue his role as first-team manager,” added the statement.
“His experience in football is regarded as invaluable to the club and his long association with the club apart from his time as manager demonstrates his commitment that will help it grow in the future.”
