AFC Uckfield Town launch online appeal to raise funds to repair damaged clubhouse roof

ONLINE well-wishers of East Sussex outfit AFC Uckfield Town have raised over £1,338 as the club aim to raise £10,000 to repair their damage clubhouse roof at The Oaks.

“Over recent years our passionate locally based committee members and volunteers have worked tirelessly improving the facilities and football experience for players and supporters alike,” said a statement.

“However, due to the spiralling costs of running a football club, we desperately need community support to tackle essential works and help us secure the future of our historic club.

“We have refurbished parts of the building and improved facilities, however, due to its age, the maintenance requirements of the building are hard to mask.

“The rear part of the building, including changing rooms and physio rooms are defiantly NOT water tight and leak like a sieve.

“The repair to the roof is essential work and vital to our club’s ability to fulfil fixtures and retain its League status.

“Despite our best endeavours we are unable to make the clubhouse wind and water tight without significant outside investment.

“We are simply unable to generate the funds needed without your kind and generous support.

“It is our intention to use money raised to repair the roof and make the building weather proof, enabling volunteers to dry out and make good the internal ceilings and walls.

“A wind and watertight club house will enable football to continue at the Oaks and also provide a vibrant and versatile community hub for meetings and events.”

The club are rooted to the bottom of the ninth-tier Southern Combination League Premier Division table, having picked up 14 points (three wins, five draws and 26 defeats) and are six points adrift of Saltdean United.

Sean Muggeridge’s Crowborough Athletic came away from The Oaks with a 6-0 win yesterday, watched by a crowd of 165.
