Ambitious club begin their climb up the pyramid - EXCLUSIVE

Thursday 03rd April 2008

AMBITIOUS club Forest Hill Park of the South London Football Alliance League have once again applied to join the Kent County League, writes Stephen McCartney.

Forest Hill Park are a young club that was only formed in 2003. Having won division one of the South London Alliance in 2005-06, they went on to be runners up in the top flight last season.

The club’s application last year was rejected at the Kent County League’s annual general meeting by a narrow margin.

But the club are hoping that this season their application to join will be successful.

Although Forest Hill Park are a relatively young club, they have come a long way in a very short space of time.

Club secretary Clayton Walters has been instrumental in securing a home ground with lots of potential to take the club forward.

The club currently groundshare with Lewisham Borough (Community) of the Kent County League at the Ladywell Arena, Silverdale Road, Catford.

The ground already possess floodlights and in the summer a spectator stand seating 150 people will be built up to the requirements of the Kent League.

Following on from that a clubhouse will be built for refreshments with a boardroom.

The playing surface will be re-laid in the summer to provide a much better surface than the one at present.

“We are looking out for junior teams at all ages that might be interested in joining our young and ambitious club,” secretary Clayton Walters said EXCLUSIVELY to www.kentishfootball.co.uk tonight.

“We are also looking for good mature players for next season. Players wishing to join must have the correct temperament, discipline and want to play football in the correct manner.”
