APM CONTRAST manager Kris Browning says he’s delighted that the club are in a position to claim promotion into the Kent Invicta League next season.

The club were groundsharing at Bearsted’s Honey Lane ground for two seasons before moving back to the club’s traditional base at Cobdown Sports & Social Club, Station Road, Ditton, Aylesford.

The facility is a goal-kick away from the Kent Football Association offices and is the training ground for Ebbsfleet United, who finished in a disappointing eighth-place in the Vanarama Conference South yesterday.

The artist formerly known as Aylesford Paper Mills have completed their campaign in second place in the NRG Gym Kent County League Premier Division having collected 52 points from 28 games.

Metrogas, who cannot be promoted despite winning back-to-back titles owing to their ground in New Eltham not being at the required requirements, have collected 67 points and have a couple more games left to play.

APM Contrast will lose their grip on second-place because teams below them still have to complete their campaigns.

But Browning is delighted that his patience has been rewarded with promotion to Step Six.

“APM have been given Grade H standard and have secured a top five finish meaning promotion to the Invicta League,” he said.

“It’s been another hard slog in a very tough Kent County League but I’m delighted for the players and the club in securing a top five finish.

“This is our third go at trying to get promoted into the Invicta League but now at last we are there.

“It really has been hard work.  Losing out on promotion last season by three points hit us hard and I lost seven or eight players to higher clubs, so I had to build again and return to Cobdown.”
