Shaun Holland leaves Paperboys to become Ashford United's assistant manager

Monday 17th August 2015

SHAUN HOLLAND has become a surprise choice to become Ashford United’s new assistant manager after leaving his role as reserve team manager at Kent Invicta League new-boys APM Contrast.

The Paper Boys revealed the news on the club’s Facebook page tonight.

Joint-chairman Phil Hudson said: “I’m not surprised and I really can’t believe I managed to keep Shaun at the club for so long.

“He’s guided the reserves to back-to-back promotions which has been a truly amazing achievement.

“I knew this day would come and I would like to wish Shaun all the best in his new challenge. It really is a fantastic opportunity and one I told him he could not turn down.

“Shaun has become one of my closest friends and I have to thank him for not only what he has done for the club but also what he has done for myself.

“Paul Atkins and myself have been looking at our options and we are close to making an appointment. We have a few minor details to sort out but I’m really excited about the next chapter.”

Ashford United parted company with manager Paul Chambers after only two games into the season following the club’s 5-1 defeat at league rivals Cray Valley in The FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round on Saturday.

Assistant manager Lloyd Blackman has also left the Southern Counties East Football League club following Chambers' exit.
