Ashford Town quit the Ryman League
Tuesday 20th July 2010
ASHFORD TOWN have resigned from the Ryman Football League with immediate effect, writes Mike Green. Despite a summer where the Nuts and Bolts have seemingly lurched from one crisis to another, this announcement is still somewhat of a surprise and a shock.
In a statement issued on the Ryman League website this lunchtime, the League confirmed Ashford's resignation and the club's immediate short term plans.
The statement reads, “At a Board Meeting this morning the Directors of the League were disappointed to receive the resignation of Ashford Town FC from the League with immediate effect.
“The Board has taken the opportunity to move Chatham Town FC from Division One North to the South division to replace Ashford Town.
“Ashford wish to move to the Kent League and the League will not object to this providing all monies due to the League are paid.
“The League hope to issue the fixture list for both division’s during tomorrow, Wednesday 21 July.”
