ASHFORD UNITED begin the search for a new manager after parting company with Tommy Warrilow and his management team by mutual consent.

The Nuts & Bolts finished their Isthmian League South East Division campaign in ninth-place in the table, having picked up 57 points (16 wins, nine draws and 13 defeats) from their 38 league games.

Chatham Town clinched the title by picking up 79 points, while this week’s play-offs will be contested by Ramsgate (72 points), Whitehawk (69), Beckenham Town (68) and Hythe Town (67).

Ashford United completed their campaign with a 2-1 home defeat to Jamie Coyle's Ramsgate at the weekend, in what turned out to be Warrilow's last game in charge of the club.

“Following on from discussions and a meeting ,the decision was amicable between the board, Warrilow and his staff,” said a club statement.

“Having spent four seasons with the Nuts & Bolts, he managed to achieve two play-off finals, a second-place written off by Covid and this season took the club on its best FA Cup run in 25 years.

“The club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Tommy Warrilow, his assistant Alex O’Brien and goalkeeping coach Terry Sedge.  We wish them all the best in any future endeavours.”

Warrilow arrived at Homelands Stadium in November 2018, having previously managed Tonbridge Angels, Cray Wanderers and Thamesmead Town.
