We're in for a tough game against Horsham YMCA, says Ashford United boss Gary Alexander
ASHFORD UNITED manager Gary Alexander says his side are in for a tough game against Horsham YMCA tomorrow.
The two sides lock horns in The FA Cup Preliminary Round at Homelands Stadium with the Nuts & Bolts sitting in third-place in the Bostik South East Division after wins over Hythe Town (3-1) and Guernsey (3-0).
Horsham YMCA arrive at Homelands Stadium in sixth-place in the Southern Combination League Premier Division table with two wins and a draw and ended Fisher’s interest in the Extra Preliminary Round following their 2-1 win in south east London.
“It’s FA Cup day and I’m looking forward to it,” said Alexander.
“It’s a special occasion for all club’s at this level, so we hope to have a good run in it as again for a club at this level the prize money help’s run club's.
“Horsham YMCA will feel the same so we’re in for a tough game.
“I’ve had them watched and know for sure we are in for a tough game and like any game if you drop standards you can come unstuck, so we have to make sure ours are high to give ourselves the best opportunity to win this match.”
Ashford United host Faversham Town on Bank Holiday Monday (15:00), with Ray Turner’s side unbeaten in their first two league outings.
Alexander said: “It’s a tough weekend with a follow-up against Faversham. It will test our squad to the max but we can’t dwell.
“We’ll get tomorrow done and then worry about Monday after that and see how the players come out of it but I’ve got no complaints, it’s football and part and parcel and the same for both sides.
“With it being another local derby, hopefully there will be a real bumper crowd.
“Faversham have some quality in their ranks so hopefully we come out of the Horsham game with a positive result so the boys go into it on a high but winning tomorrow is the most important before worrying about Monday.”
