ASHFORD UNITED have been informed they will be placed in the newly formed Step 6 Kent Invicta League next season, writes Jack Wilson.
Paul Bowden-Brown was initially disappointed at the news and told www.ashfordunited.co.uk: “We are a new club going into a new league and we will be making our own history. “Now that we know what league we are playing in we can make solid plans with our management team to ensure Ashford United FC start our climb through the non-league pyramid this coming season.
“I would like to thank all those that within the local football management that had supported the club’s ambitions but be assured the name of Ashford United FC will be on the lips of many this coming season.
“I hope our supporters show their appreciation to the hard work that has been achieved to date at the club and we see them on the terraces but remember we are just starting our journey.”The FA’s Mike Appleby said: “The committee took note of the regulations for the establishment and operation of the national league system which provides for “new or reformed” clubs to be allocated a minimum of two steps below that in which the “former” club played at the time of its demise.”
