Baldacchino: We could not reach our targets - EXCLUSIVE

Monday 08th October 2007

Assistant Wayne Baldacchino will be following Peter Little out of the door following their last game in charge for Slade Green tomorrow night, writes Stephen McCartney.

The Kent League side, currently at the foot of the table with just one point from seven games, are searching for a new management team after their home Kent League Cup clash with Holmesdale.

“Again, personal reasons are at the forefront of the decision, but there are many political reasons that I do not want to go in,” Baldacchino said EXCLUSIVELY to www.kentishfootball.co.uk.

“I am quite a positive person with targets in mind that I would like to reach.

“I do not feel that those targets can be met with Slade Green and as I agreed with Peter Little when we took the job on, if he goes, then so do I.

“I am bitterly disappointed as I do not like to walk away from some of the players that gave their all for us, but that is not the case for some.

“I also wish the new manager the very best of luck and hope that he can turn the situation around for the club.

“The majority of the players have put a massive effort into trying to get results, but it just would not happen for us.

Baldacchino explained what his plans are for the future, and wants to return to one of his former clubs, Erith & Belvedere.

He said: “I am going to concentrate on my school and district teams for a while before deciding my next move, if any.

“I have had a couple of conversations with people in the Kent League and do not expect to be away from it for long.

“With Peter he has a long standing affection for Slade Green. With me it is Erith & Belvedere and if an opportunity was to come along to return in some sort of capacity then yes I would jump at the chance to go back. We will just have to wait and see how things turn out.”
