We will definitely have to up our game against Chatham Town, says Beckenham Town assistant manager Billy Walton

BECKENHAM TOWN assistant manager Billy Walton says his players must up their game in their crucial home clash against fellow promotion chasing side Chatham Town.

James Collins’ side thrashed K Sports 9-0 at home last Saturday and are in fifth-place in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table with 49 points from 22 games.

Beckenham Town, meanwhile, are in third-place with 50 points from 25 games, six points adrift of surprise leaders Corinthian, who have a game in hand.

“We’re looking forward to our game against Chatham Town on Saturday, which will be a very important game for both teams,” said Walton.

“It’s a game which we definitely do not go in as underdogs and we will give Chatham the utmost respect going into this crucial game.

“I still feel no matter what the result is, this game for both teams they will still be involved in promotion at the end of the season.

“We will definitely have to up our game from last week as we were not at our best during our 1-1 draw at Punjab United.

“We have no injury problems and we have a full squad to choose from, so let’s look forward to the game and all the best to Canterbury and Cray Valley in the last sixteen of The FA Vase.”

Meanwhile, midfielder Dean Carpenter has left Eden Park Avenue and has signed for Southern Counties East Football League First Division side Sporting Club Thamesmead.
