Blue Square Bet South opening day fixtures give Dover Athletic early revenge chance!

Friday 02nd July 2010
The fixtures for the new Blue Square Bet South season have been announced, and opening day sees Martin Hayes start his competitive Dover Athletic managerial career with a trip to face the side that ended the Whites’ promotion dreams back in May, writes Mike Green.

And on opening day (Saturday 14th August), only Hayes' side must travel to what on paper at least is the Division’s game of the day - to Kingfield against Woking - the side who edged out the Crabble side in last season's Play Off semi final.

All of our other club's have home games - Bromley welcome Dorchester Town, whilst Tony Burman’s Dartford welcome Havant & Waterlooville to Princes Park, whilst Ebbsfleet United begin life in the division with a home game against Maidenhead United.

Welling United, meanwhile, entertain Hampton & Richmond Borough at Park View Road.

The first Kent derby of the campaign comes on the seasons first Tuesday, when Welling United travel to Dover Athletic, for what will be Hayes' first home League game in charge.

A week later (August 24th) Dover Athletic travel to Stonebridge Road to lock horns with Ebbsfleet United, whilst just four days later (on Saturday August 28th) comes the much anticipated meeting competitive meeting at Princes Park of Dartford and the Fleet

The Christmas fixtures pit (on Boxing Day) Bromley v Dover Athletic and Dartford v Welling United with Ebbsfleet United heading for Lewes.  Then on Bank Holiday, Tuesday (December 28th) Dover take on Lewes at Crabble, whilst elsewhere Welling host Bromley and Dartford go to Stonebridge Road for arguably the season's most anticipated fixture, against Ebbsfleet United.

With Easter being at the end of April this season, it provides a potentially mouth watering penultimate weekend to the season.

On Easter Saturday, Bromley play Dartford, Ebbsfleet United host Chelmsford, and Dover Athletic and Welling United are at home to Basingstoke Town and Thurrock respectively.

Then on Easter Monday, Dartford play Dover Athletic at Princes Park, Ebbsfleet United make the short trip through the tunnel to Thurrock, Welling go to Braintree Town and Bromley travel to Chelmsford City.

The season ends on Saturday 30th April with Ebbsfleet United vs Woking; Maidenhead United vs Dartford; Dover Athletic vs St Albans City; Welling United vs Basingstoke Town and Bromley vs Eastlegh.
