Jack Pearce, 73, steps down as Bognor Regis Town manager

BOGNOR REGIS Town manager Jack Pearce, 73, has stepped down from his role yesterday and handed the reins to Robbie Blake with Jamie Howell assisting.

 

The Rocks, who play Cray Wanderers at home today, have handed the role to Blake, who joined the club as first-team coach in the summer of 2018 after a stint as a coach at Portsmouth under the then manager Paul Cook.

Howell left his job at league rivals Kingstonian last month to re-join the club he managed before leaving five years ago to join Eastbourne Borough.

Pearce, who began his playing career at Bognor Regis Town in 1970 and first took up the first-team manager’s role six years later, told the club website: “I’m 73 and old, but I’ve never lost my enthusiasm to want to make people play football.  This is the only pleasure I get any more.

“I’m the vice-chairman of The FA, I’m the chairman of the National League and I’m a director of the Football Foundation and the job I best enjoy doing is managing Bognor Regis Town Football Club – and that’s the job I’ve just given up.”

Bognor Regis Town are in eleventh-place in the Isthmian League Premier Division table, having collected 10 wins, 12 draws and nine defeats this season.

The club have seven league games left to play and have collected 42 points, 20 points adrift of the play-off zone.
