Both teams will entertain you all, says Gorman - EXCLUSIVE
Paul Gorman believes fans are in for a treat when his Erith & Belvedere side entertain Thamesmead Town at Park View Road tomorrow, writes Stephen McCartney.
Despite his Erith & Belvedere side sitting in eighth place in the Kent League table with a record of four wins and three draws from their opening eight games, Gorman is confident that his side will come good in the end.
“We should be higher than that, but we’ve got games in hand,” Gorman said EXCLUSIVELY to www.kentishfootball.co.uk on the eve of the Park View Road clash.
“If we beat Thamesmead we’ve got a chance of moving up and hopefully the results go for us, if we win our games in hand, we go third or fourth.”
The Doncaster born joint-boss added: “It’s a very big game against two very good sides. We met last Saturday, a good end to end game (and we’re) looking for another good game out of the boys.”
Gorman is fully aware that the Kent League pacesetters, with a record of nine wins and a draw from their first ten games, are “lethal” all over the pitch.
Both sides are, however, attack minded, their pitches at Park View Road and Bayliss Avenue are quality surfaces and enable players to express themselves with slick attacking football.
“They are lethal, some of their goals, they score out of nothing. They’ve got quality throughout their side,” said Gorman.
But victory tomorrow will close the gap to ten points behind Thamesmead, but Gorman believes the title race will be between six clubs this term.
“We’ve got a good chance like another six sides,” said Gorman.
“I don’t want to blow our own trumpet but we’re a good side and have a chance.
“Thamesmead have got off to a flyer, which I wanted us to do, but it doesn’t work like that.
“Hopefully Thamesmead will go on a bad patch but at the moment they’re doing well and not doing that.
“They’re a very good team - we just have to get at them.”
