Bowers & Pitsea postpone trip to Folkestone Invicta due to one of their players contracting coronavirus
FOLKESTONE INVICTA’S home Isthmian League Premier Division game against Bowers & Pitsea on Tuesday night has been postponed.
A statement from the Essex side said: “Bowers & Pitsea FC are very sad to tell you that the home game (against Kingstonian) on Saturday and the away game on Tuesday versus Folkestone Invicta have been postponed due to a player contracting the coronavirus.
“The player feeling unwell was tested on Sunday (11 October) and the result has come back positive. Other players and staff have also been tested and results are yet to be confirmed, so we thought that in the interest of our fans, players, committee and the teams we are about to play, we would see to have these games cancelled and rescheduled for another time.
“We take this very seriously and although we follow the guidelines set out by The FA and the Government, things can still happen and we have a public duty to everyone to ensure their safety.
“We are hoping that this is a minor set-back and everyone affected will be okay to resume soon.”
Ramsgate were awarded a bye into the FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round after their Essex based opponents Cavey Island pulled out of their game at Southwood Stadium, on Friday.
Sixteenth-placed Folkestone Invicta’s next scheduled game will be a trip to second-from-bottom side Brightlingsea Regent in the Isthmian League Premier Division on Saturday, 24 October (15:00).
