Brickies will be tough, warns Hessenthaler
Andy Hessenthaler takes his side to Sittingbourne on Tuesday night, expecting a tough game against a managerless team, writes Stephen McCartney.
Dover Athletic booked themselves a place in the last qualifying round of the FA Trophy, following a comfortable 2-1 win over Brackley Town yesterday.
Goals from strikers Frannie Collin and James Dryden made Brackley, a side that’s fourth in the British Gas Business Premier League table, look ordinary.
All attention now turns to Dover Athletic’s trip to Bourne Park on Tuesday night, and although the Brickies suffered a 3-1 defeat at Corinthian Casuals, player-boss Hessenthaler is still expecting a tough game, despite winning their last four games.
Former Dover Athletic midfielder Anthony Hogg, Joe Dowley and former reserve team boss Lee Richmond have been put in temporary charge of team affairs following the shock departure of Steve Lovell to Ashford Town last Tuesday night, whilst the club advertise for a successor.
“It’s a local derby again, as you know our local derbies haven’t particularly gone well so far this season, Whitstable and Chatham, so it’s going to be a tricky game,” Hessenthaler told www.kentishfootball.co.uk.
“They’re managerless at the moment, whether they’ll have anyone in place by Tuesday, I don’t know.
“But sometimes when the manager leaves they get a response, that’s how it works sometimes but whoever’s in charge, I’m sure they’ll be up for the game, they’re playing Dover.
“But we haven’t got to worry about anyone else, we’ve got to worry about ourselves and we’ve got a massive month, Sittingbourne Tuesday, Chipstead away on the Saturday.
“It’s a big week for us but Sittingbourne’s the next one, that’s the most important one, let’s get a result against them and we move onto the next one.
“That’s how we’ve got to look at it, we’ve set ourselves targets as we’ve already said, each month so far we’ve met them targets, November, we’ve got to meet the target again and we’ll be on our way.”
