Bromley tie Welch and Fuseini down to contracts until the end of next season

Friday 16th March 2012
BROMLEY are delighted to announce that goalkeeper Joe Welch and midfield star Ali Fuseini have put pen to paper on new contracts to keep the pair at Hayes Lane until the end of next season.

The Ravens are presently in seventeenth-place in the Blue Square Bet (Conference) South table, with 34 points from 33 games, but have lost just one game since Fuseini’s arrival at the club.

The pair join former Hayes & Yeading midfielder, Pairs born Pierre Joseph-Dubois, 24, on contact at the club until the end of next season.

Fuseini, 23, was originally signed by Millwall back in 2006 and remained with the Lions, through two promotions until the end of the 2008-10 season.

After leaving The New Den, he spent time on trial with Leeds United, Leyton Orient and Crystal Palace and featured for The Eagles against Bromley in a pre-season friendly at Hayes Lane.

At the start of 2001, Fuseini joined League Two club Lincoln City and went on to make 35 appearances for the Imps under Steve Tilson.

However, under the new Imps manager David Holdsworth, Fuseini was made available for loan and eventually left the club by mutual consent at the end of 2011.

Welch, 23, meanwhile, began his career as a youth player at Southend United before getting his first taste of first team football at Histon in 2008.

The 6ft 3in goalkeeper made the number one jersey his own and played the entire 2010-11 campaign for the Blue Square Bet Premier side.

Welch caught the eye of Stevenage but despite training with the Npower League One club, signed a contract with Blue Square Bet Premier side Ebbsfleet United at the start of the season, where he was understudy to Preston Edwards at Stonebridge Road.

Since joining relegation threatened Bromley, Welch has made nine league appearances for the Kent club, keeping four clean sheets, conceding just six goals.

Results have gone for Bromley in recent weeks and they are two points clear of the relegation zone with nine games remaining, starting with tomorrow’s trip to seventh-placed Basingstoke Town.

The Hampshire club are 12 points adrift of fifth-placed side Chelmsford City, who occupy the final play-off berth.

Bromley have drawn their last two games and face Havant & Waterlooville at Hayes Lane next Tuesday – a six-pointer in the relegation dog-fight as the Hampshire outfit are currently one point and one place below Bromley in the table.
