Burman adds more Iron to his squad

A SECOND player from Braintree Town has decided to drop down one division to sign for Dartford, writes Stephen McCartney.
Lee Burns, 26, who can play in a number of positions, including right-back, right-midfield, centre of midfield or up front, was unveiled by Burman as his fourth summer signing last night.

“Lee’s someone that we’ve known for a while,” Burman told www.kentishfootball.co.uk  this morning.

“He was playing at East Thurrock United in the Ryman Premier, he’s been at Braintree for the last two years.

“He’s a strong, powerful player who can play in a number of positions and he was one of the players we’ve been speaking to over the last month and last night he’s decided to come to us after approaches from a number of clubs.”

Ryman Premier League Dartford have already snapped up Elliott Bradbrook (Maidstone United), Allan Tait (Eastbourne Borough) and Billy Burgess (Braintree Town) - and Burman promises more new faces as the club prepare for a glorious season.

“We’re delighted to sign a number of last season’s squad and we’ve added to it some players from Conference South and a quality player from the Ryman Premier,” said Burman.

“We wanted to bring in experience, I’ve said three or four (players), we may get four or five.”

When asked about expectations for next season being sky high, Burman agreed, adding, “We are delighted (with the summer signings),  it’s on paper and the squad will have to perform.  There’s plenty of competition in the squad.”

Burman also confirmed that no player has left the club (other than striker Brendon Cass joining Chatham Town following his release last month) and “I’ve spoken to a number of players and we’re looking for another addition by the end of next week.”
