Burman delighted with Barnes' capture
Evesham United are Dartford’s last ever visitors to Ship Lane for tomorrow’s FA Trophy second qualifying round clash, writes Stephen McCartney.
Darts boss Tony Burman wants his side to emulate last season’s Trophy run, which saw them beat Dover Athletic and Margate before going out in a replay at AFC Wimbledon.
He told www.dartfordfootballclub.co.uk: “Tomorrow we have another very tough game this time in the FA Trophy against Evesham from the Midlands League.
“Last season we enjoyed this competition and I do not want this season to be any different, whether we play bad, average or very good, we want to get into the next round.”
Burman explained why he signed midfielder Nick Barnes from their Ryman League Division One South rivals Maidstone United.
Stones’ joint-manager Lloyd Hume told www.kentishfootball.co.uk today that Barnes was one of their highest earners.
Burman said: “Nick is a local lad and make no mistake he is a good player who has played for Dartford before under Gary Julians and is still only just 24-years of age.
“Nick is the only player I have shown Princes Park to in the dark but he was still impressed and could not wait sign, but above all I wanted him to sign to strengthen my squad and I am delighted he has.”
