Hereford snap up former Chatham Town striker Olalekan Osideko following a successful trial
HEREFORD manager Josh Gowling has unveiled the signing of former Chatham Town striker Olalekan Osideko following a successful trial at the Vanarama National League North club.
The Bulls listed the former Phoenix Sports striker as ‘Trialist 17’ on team-sheets during pre-season and scored a hat-trick inside seven minutes against Coalville Town and finished pre-season as the clubs top goalscorer.
Clubs are often criticised by spectators and the media for listing potential transfer targets as “trialists” on team-sheets.
Osideko scored seven goals in 16 appearances for Kevin Hake’s side as Chatham Town finished runners-up to quadruple winning side Sheppey United in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division last season and both will be playing in the Isthmian League South East Division this season.
Gowling told the club website: “He has impressed pre-season with his movement in and around the box. He really has an eye for goal especially as he has ended pre-season our top scorer. Let’s hope he can take that form into the league.”
Chatham Town, meanwhile, travel to Sussex to play Little Common on Sunday in The FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round.
Little Common are in sixteenth-place in the Southern Combination League Premier Division table, having lost their opening game of the new season, 1-0 at home to early leaders Broadbridge Heath last Saturday.
Broadbridge Heath and Crowborough Athletic have recorded back-to-back wins during the opening week of the season.
Sean Muggeridge’s Crows beat Eastbourne United 1-0 last night.
