Chesterfield offer Whitstable Town winger Scott Heard a trial

Friday 21st March 2014
WHITSTABLE TOWN chairman Gary Johnson says he wishes winger Scott Heard well during his trial at Chesterfield next week.

The Oystermen are in the bottom six in the Ryman League Division One South table with 38 points from 33 games, but the form of highly-rated winger Heard has received interest from League Two club Chesterfield.

Whitstable Town are managed by Nicky Southall, who has played at every level of English football, including then Premier League club Bolton Wanderers.

“The Belmont has been the venue for many scouts of late, seeing visitors from Premiership clubs through to Conference South, looking at the talent that graces The Belmont from both our and our opponents,” said Mr Johnson.

“One such player to grab an opportunity is young Scott Heard whom League Two title challengers and Johnston Paint Trophy finalists Chesterfield have confirmed a trial next week for Scott that will see him travel to the Midlands, train all week and be an invited guest for their League Two fixture at home to Morecambe on Tuesday evening.

“Whilst it’s a terrific acknowledgement of Scott’s ability, it will mean that he looks to miss our midweek fixtures at home to Hastings next Tuesday and possibly away to Merstham next Thursday.

“We all wish Scott well.”

Southall takes his side to struggling Corinthian-Casuals tomorrow.
