Cody being well looked after by Norwich City - McDonald family
THE PROUD parents of Cody McDonald have today praised Dartford boss Tony Burman for helping their son achieve his dream of becoming a professional footballer, writes Stephen McCartney.
Cody, 22, who banged in 19 goals in 20 appearances for the Kent club, became Dartford’s largest ever transfer deal, when he moved to Championship club Norwich City for an “undisclosed fee” on transfer deadline day on Monday afternoon.
His parents, Angie and Darren McDonald, posted a message on the club’s fans’ forum at www.dartfordfootballclub.co.uk, praising the support that the prolific hit-man had received during the four months that he playing for the Princes Park outfit.
“We would like to thank all those people who gave Cody so much support and best wishes throughout his time at Dartford and now beyond,” said the parents statement.
“We, as a family, would just like to say that Cody really enjoyed his time with Dartford. You made him feel so welcome when he joined the club.
“Cody has told us that if it had not been a league club, he would have not considered leaving Dartford.
“Regarding Cody’s move to Norwich, Cody seems very happy and is being very well looked after. At the moment he is having treatment on his knee injury that he sustained (against Maidstone United) on Saturday.
“We would like to thank all the management, the team, Dartford Football Club and of course the fans, for giving Cody his opportunity to play. Lastly, we would also like to thank Tony Burman for his wise guidance.”
