Concerns raised over sorry state of Kent League club - EXCLUSIVE
A resident of Tunbridge Wells has voiced his concern about the current state of his home-town club, writes Stephen McCartney.
The resident is concerned about the future of the Kent League club following the decision made by former England international Gary Stevens to withdrawal his proposal of taking over the Culverden Stadium club.
Pressure is mounting on current chairman Nigel Bourne, who controversially sacked former manager Martin Farnie on 30th October, having dropped his son, defender Jason, from the side the previous game.
As the club shut down it’s fans’ forum during the time of Farnie’s controversial sacking - and the time leading up to last Thursday’s EGM - one resident contacted www.kentishfootball.co.uk about the sorry state of affairs at the club.
“As a Tunbridge Wells resident I find the decline and further decline of the local football club very sad,” he said.
Mike Robbins, who was drafted in from the reserves to replace Farnie as first-team boss, has failed to produce a winning team, losing all of his five games in charge.
And the resident would like to hear the chairman’s views on matters on - and off - the pitch.
He said: “I would like to hear from the chairman exactly what his future plans are for the club and how he will bring in players of a realistic standard to enable the club to compete at the top of the Kent League.
“When does he see it realistic to get into the Ryman League and what off the field improvements will be taking place?
“This will at least show that he has a plan rather than, as seems to be the case, to muddle along near the bottom of the table in front of ever declining crowds.”
He added: “Congratulations for frustrating and frustrating Gary Stevens’ takeover, which had a vision for the club - tell us what is the vision now - or step down!”
