Cray miss out on Kent derby after Trophy exit
Maidstone United have booked themselves a trip to Abingdon United in the second qualifying round of the FA Trophy next month - but there won't be a Kent derby as Cray Wanderers are out, writes Stephen McCartney.
Second half goals from Lee Shearer, Luis Cumbers and Lynden Rowland secured a 3-1 replay win over Bury Town, who had opened the scoring after just 62 seconds through Lee Reed.
But Cray Wanderers’ hopes of a Kentish derby at Tonbridge Angels were dashed tonight, as Ian Jenkins’ men lost 3-2 to East Thurrock United at Hayes Lane.
The only Kent Ryman League sides left in the FA Carlsberg Trophy are Dover Athletic, Maidstone United, Margate and Tonbridge Angels.
Revised FA Carlsberg Trophy Second Qualifying Round Draw (Kent sides only):
Abingdon United v Maidstone United
Dover Athletic v Brackley Town
Leamington v Margate
Tonbridge Angels v East Thurrock United
Ties to be played on Saturday 3rd November 2007
