Cray Valley begin search for new manager as Paul Gross resigns after two seasons in charge

CRAY VALLEY begin the search for a new manager after Paul Gross resigned after two seasons in charge of the club.

The Millers have under-performed under the manager’s reign at the Eltham based club, finishing in tenth-place in the Southern Counties East Football League this season and seventh in his first season in charge despite having a good playing budget.

Cray Valley lost 3-2 at home to Deal Town in their last game of the season on 21 April and when asked after the game if he would be in charge next season, Gross hinted that he would no longer be in charge.

Gross said: Look, we’ll take stock over the next couple of weeks and see how we feel from there. Can anyone truly answer that? Can anyone? I don’t know! We’ve got to sit down and talk so you never know in football, you never know!”

Darren Anslow, who was part of the management team at Cray Valley, left the club earlier to form the management team at Chatham Town after the Ryman League Division One South club appointed Tony Beckingham as their new manager.

A club statement said: “Cray Valley (PM) FC wish to announce the resignation of Paul Gross as first team manager.

“Paul has been associated with the Millers for four years, initially as a player and as manager for the past two seasons.

“The club fully respects his decisions for stepping down and wishes him and his family all the best for the future.

“Grossy will always be welcomed at Cray Valley and the committee believe that he will have a successful future in management.”
