Jack Funnell to help balance the books at Crowborough Athletic
CROWBOROUGH ATHLETIC have appointed their striker Jack Funnell to help balance the books at Alderbrook.
Funnell has scored one goal for Sean Muggeridge’s side in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division this season – but will have to balance the books off the pitch as well as play on it, having taken over from the outgoing treasurer, Suzanne Dixon.
“Despite his young age, Jack is very experienced in the financial world and holds a key senior position with an international financial company,” said a club statement.
“He will bring a level of expertise to the role which will be of tremendous benefit to the club as it moves forward after a few turbulent years, not helped by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“He will be joining the executive committee and we all look forward to working with Jack so that we can move the club forward, not only for everyone involved with us now but for the generations to follow.
“Suzanne Dixon, who has done a fantastic job as treasurer during a very difficult period for all, will not be disappearing immediately as there will be a necessary hand-over period to enable Jack to get up to speed.”
Muggeridge has guided the East Sussex club to eighth-place in the table with 41 points from 29 games and they have nine league games left to play, starting with Saturday’s home game against Holmesdale.
Lee Roots’ side are in 12th place in the pecking order, having collected nine fewer points from their 25 games.
